Battlefield 6 Gamers Are Convinced: Missions Are Way Too Hard

The release of the much-awaited Battlefield 6 garnered widespread acclaim, particularly for its top-tier multiplayer mode. Exclusively on Steam, concurrent player counts surged to nearly 750,000. Yet, in spite of its success, a growing number of players are protesting against some of the game's toughest challenges, which are mandatory to unlock specific weapons.

Gamers have begun turning to personalized games created through Battlefield Portal to complete them, emphasizing just how demanding these challenges have become.

Grasping BF6 Assignments

Assignments are Battlefield 6's fixed in-game challenges, in contrast to the regularly refreshed everyday and weekly missions. The game includes four classes of assignments, but although many only reward outfits and select equipment, finishing the gun missions is the sole method of getting a dozen out of forty-one main guns present in the game.

A number of these locked weapons could shortly make their appearance on rosters of the finest arms in Battlefield 6.

Gamer Backlash on Reddit

On Reddit, players are understandably expressing their worries about how challenging and repetitive several of these challenges are. A particular gamer highlighted one of the most egregious examples, required to unlock the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
  • Deal 10,000 close-range damage with LMGs

"This challenge is so atrocious and completely out of mind, I want to scream in frustration," is a comment that illustrates just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.

The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is more diminished than before in the series, so it lacks nearly as many positive effects in fights as it did in previous games. It only counts as suppression if you miss multiple shots in a row.

At the same time, using an LMG from the hip is highly imprecise and is effective only at very short distances, which is not usually a position you prefer to be. The commenter also pointed out the paradox in the SMG challenge, to unlock the SCW-10, which needs takedowns using ADS, when that mission would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and conversely.

Another Extremely Difficult Challenge

One more community participant pointed out a further incredibly demanding challenge, this time in the marksman rifle class to obtain the PSR:

  • Achieve 150 headshot eliminations over 200m with long-range weapons

This is difficult enough by itself, but there's one more key thing to consider: the majority of Battlefield 6 maps fail to facilitate combat at those extended distances.

There is a decent selection of map sizes, but given there are merely nine battlegrounds in the game at present, it restricts you to playing a specific urban map, a particular valley environment, and possibly Operation Firestorm at a push if you want to snipe from over 200m away.

The Bypass

However, there is a solution: the custom game tool. The Battlefield Portal is a system that permits you to make custom game modes on whatever map you choose, complete with bots. This implies you can exploit the mechanics… but it doesn't exactly feel like the intended gameplay experience.

Yet, if completing the missions in a proper game appears to work against fun, since you have to play in such an unorthodox manner that doesn't benefit you or your team, is it surprising for finishing these in a custom game so teammates aren't hindered?

Future Adjustments

It should not be shocking if a number of these missions are made easier in the near future, because if they're not, some players simply will never acquire the gated weapons.

At the moment, the player base continues to voice their opinions on these demanding in-game tasks, expecting a less arduous player experience in subsequent patches.
